In heavily worn contemporary tree calf with loss at edges, coming loose from boards. A bit shaken, front hinge weak, internally very good with scattered minor foxing, staining for a few pages in two spots, wear to endpapers. The Dublin edition, the same year as the first printed in London. Gelleroy was cook to the Dutchess of Argyle and Sir Samuel Fludyer, Lord Mayor of the City of London. A copy of this book was pilfered from Edward Strong by his butler John Cannon in 1790 (see Stealing Books in Eighteenth-Century London).
