Originally published in 1655, the Queen's Closet is divided into the Pearle of Practice, which consists of medical recipes, and The Queen's Delight, which is confectionery - The Queen's Delight has a separate title page. All of the recipes were supposed to have come from the kitchen of Henrietta Maria, the wife of King Charles I who had been put to death six years before the first edition was published in 1655 and it includes a list of the luminaries that the recipes were gleaned from.
