Originally published in 1655, the Queen's Closet is divided into the Pearl of Practice, which consists of medical recipes, and The Queen's Delight, which is confectionery - The Queen's Delight has a separate title page. All of the recipes were supposed to have come from the kitchen Henrietta Maria, the wife of King Charles I and it includes a list of the luminaries that the recipes were gleaned from. Fascinating, as this was originally published during the interregnum, just 6 years after Cromwell had done away with Henrietta's husband at the Palace of Whitehall. Size: 8vo (octavo).
