3 volumes in old acid calf, corners worn, spine dulled, neatly rebound some time ago with the spines laid back down, some browning to leather turn ins on marbled endpapers. Apparently rebound very early on and with the original morocco spines laid back down . Small dampstain to portrait frontis in volume 1, scattered minor foxing and browning; generally bright internally and a lovely set of the first illustrated edition. WIth 58 plates including the uncovered version of the ladies being chased by monkeys in volume two which often was replaced by one with the ladies clothed. 304pp; 320pp; 236pp, 102pp. Brunet V 1363 [17235].
