Contemporary acid calf, quite worn, hinges cracked but held by cords, front blank in vol 1 detached, spine ends chipped. Quite clean internally, light scattered browning, with a nice folding plate in volume one. Bradley, though with no formal education in the field, was an accomplished botanist and member of the Royal Society. This is one of his less frequently seen works. WIth the bookplates of Richard Warner (1713--1775), an important botanist of the subsequent generation. He had an opportunity to have the Gardenia - which he had raised in a hothouse - named after him, but passed. A very nice association of 18th century English botanists.
