Contemporary calf rebacked with a new spine label, but rebacking failed and the rear board cleanly detached. Endpapers stained, light soiling to title and portrait, small tear to title in the gutter, scattered foxing, toning and minor stains, but otherwise unmarked and just about very good overall. Sidney wrote the original Arcadia in the 1580s and later revised and expanded it adding exciting episodes and enhancing the pastoral elements.
