19th century full morocco, all edges gilt, hinges rubbed, front hinge a little cracked; bound for the publisher Basil Montagu Pickering (with his name stamped on the inside front board) who ran his father William's publishing business following his death until it was sold to Chatto & Windus. Two other bookplates, one a College Library, and an old catalog entry on added endpapers. Lacking the front and rear blank, title neatly silked, final leaf with colophon in old facsimile, marginal repair to first text leaf, repaired marginal tear to Cii and a few other minor repairs in the preliminaries, repaired tear to bottom corner of 61 (d7) with loss of a parts of 6 lines of text, first and last few pages a bit soiled, light foxing and scattered stains and light soiling throughout, trimmed a little close in a few instances just touching the running title or page numbers, but clean overall and still an attractive copy. With the inserted leaf after 1138 (2C5). lacking front blank, (34), 88, 89-104 columns, 105-1138 (2), 1139-1458 (1458 in facsimile), lacking final blank. Brunet III 1893, Lowndes 1606.
