A single sheet from an early German edition of Le Moyne, likely the first German edition published in 1591, the year after the Latin. The engraving depicts the (almost certainly spurious) sacrifice of the first born son that Laudonnière (René Goulaine de Laudonnière c. 1529–1574) claimed to have witnessed among the indigenous people of Florida.
Fine contemporary or early hand coloring, a few minor stains, browning, etc, worming in the inner margin, old paper repairs to the bottom left and right with loss of text.

The ceremony depicts the mother morning in front of a tree stump while other women dance and the child is offered up to the king - all as described by Laudonnière. Size: Folio. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo. Category: Americana; Exploration. Inventory No: 045842.
