Contemporary paneled calf, some surface scrapes, front hinge rubbed and cracking but largely held by cords, rear rubbed but sound. Front endpaper torn and abraded (apparently from removing wax seals used as ownership markings). A later edition of Cotgrave's Dictionarie of the French and English Tongues (1611), the first, though, with Howell's additions. Both the inclination to put such a thing together, and the book itself, are emblematic of the late but fierce blooming English Renaissance. Printed in three columns, lacking the blanks with new endpapers added. Separate titles for the two sections with the English-French in an architectural border. Light scattered foxing, quite clean overall. Size: Folio. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: 2-3 kilos. Category: Language & Linguistics; Reference. Inventory No: 045753.
