London: John Nutt, 1716.
First Edition. Hardcover (Quarter Leather). Fair Condition. Item #045410
Original leather backed plain boards, heavily worn, spine perished, corners worn and rounded. front board loose but attached. Likely bound up from the original parts, with what is apparently the earliest title page imprint of John Nutt (who died in 1716 - later impressions were published by Elizabeth Nutt, the 1719 book edition by R. Bonwicke et al). Scattered foxing, trimmed a bit close touching the running title for sections, some wear to page edges, mostly clean and crisp internally but incomplete. Lacking plate 15, pages 249-280 (clearly bound missing this part) and apparently (though there is no gap in plates) plates 54-64 (plate 53 is correctly placed on page 215, plate 65 as called for on 217, leaving no room for the missing plates - possibly but unverifiably a numbering error). Lacking the 7 plates in the missing part - a total of 116 plates present of 134 numbered in the first volume. (2), 1-248, 281-568pp. Volume one only, ending abruptly at page 568. Size: Quarto (4to). One volume of the 2-volume set. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo. Category: Science & Technology; Botany; Antiquarian & Rare. Inventory No: 045410.
