Contemporary paneled calf, rubbed and a little dry, finely rebacked, with later gilt armorial stamp on cover of Raymond George Cave reading: "Cave Canem". Wear to edges, slight cracking, scratches to back cover. Bookplate with the Cave crest on the front pastedown. Portrait frontispiece and one full page engraving of Aesop surrounded by animals. Library stamp on title and first page. Repair to bottom blank margin of portrait frontis, small repair to first page of table of contents, notes to bottom margin of the plate. Old owners names to end paper, old inscription to blank verso of second plate. Internal foxing, frequently heavy, and age toning throughout.
