Published Feb. 1, 1924, this pamphlet represents the first condensation of the research into birth control at the Birth Control Clinical Research Bureau in New York City. Seven short chapters including photographs and descriptions of the brith control devices, where to obtain devices, preliminary conclusions, etc. The four pages of photos of devices are loose but intact.
Quite rare because of the enormous significance and fragility of the undertaking, the pamphlet, each pamphlet was apparently checked out to on physician, with a statement by Bocker to that effect. This copy belonged to the influential biogerontologist Raymond Pearl (and is signed by him). An interesting figure himself, Pearl wrote The Biology of Superiority a few years later attacking many of the aims of the eugenics movement. Signed by Pearl and numberd 401. 31pp including charts showing the experience of the 1558 cases studied. Wear to brown wraps, some smudges in margins.
Bocker was the first head of the Birth Control Clinical Research Bureau (which was founded by Sanger and others), the first legal birth control clinic in the country.A few years later Margaret Sanger renamed the BCCRB the Birth Control Federation of America and became Planned Parenthood in 1942.
