A pre-publication unrevised copy of Edwin Arnold's work inscribed and signed by him to Augustine Daly, a contemporary of his and playwright of "Under the Gas Light" and "Woffington" which helped him achieve fame in his time, though ultimately, more famous as a bibliphile and collector. His collection, including this book was auctioned off after his death in Paris. The book bound in original wraps has been bound into a three quarters leather binding over marbled boards with gilt edges. The original wraps are in excellent condition and the binding is tight and the textblock is clean. The book is undated but presumed prior to the 1893 first edition.
