Carter has created a number of popular and functional fonts such as Georgia, Helvetica, and Verdana. Galliard is a serif font meant to be legible at small sizes. |
The older typeface on this site was harvested from a book of French plays by Jean Mairet published in the first third of the 17th century. The font is a version of Garamond, a popular and influential 16th century font. Claude Garamond (see his wikipedia entry) was a teacher and colleague of Robert Granjon. So, you see, it all makes sense. |
