We buy used books in good condition both in the Boston area and around New England. We pay about 25% of our selling price in cash and 40% in trade for general stock but will pay commensurate with value and scarcity for all collections, scholarly titles, fiction first editions, and rare or antiquarian titles. If you have a large collection of books of interest, we would be happy to come to you to have a look.
We don’t buy textbooks (unless they are current editions), romance, or encyclopedias. We don’t tend to buy hardcover fiction unless it is new or exceptional.
We are always looking for older children’s books (pre-1950) and cookbooks (18th and 19th century), illustrated books (including graphic novels), pre-19th century books as well as philosophy, and scholarly books on a variety of topics including history, religion, science, or literature, and important works of fiction in hardcover and paperback.
